    Altra Olympus 4.0 Blue

Posted by Ajay on Jan 8th 2021

Received this shoe 2 days ago and so far I am really liking this version of the Olympus. I owned the original Olympus and ended up returning it because it was just, well, huge! This shoe seems much more nimble and the midfoot foam seems spot on in response and cushioning. I have so far walked around in these in the house and been on 1 trail run in packed snow on trail and the shoe was great in both cushion and traction. I am impressed with the stack hight that the shoe still feels pretty nimble and planted never felt wobbly or like I was going to roll and ankle. Sizing was great. I wear a size 13 and the length is exactly what I would expect with about a thumb width of length left at the toe and of course the toe box is superbly roomy! Final note is that I wanted the Black and White color way but Blue was available and I honestly am pleasantly surprised the the blue looks good. These are not lifestyle shoes but they do look pretty good with a pair of jeans.

Simply the BEST hiking shoes I ever owned. Did 22 miles as my 1st hike with these shoes and they did fantastic. Great balance, cushion, light, and my toes had plenty of room to move around. Great hiking shoes

Solid shoes with plenty of room for your toes and cushioned well....these may last for years but I rotate my shoes.

    Olympus 4

I was skeptical about the amount of cushion coming from my trusty king mt2 but I have been blown away. I've got about 15 miles on them now and they required zero break in and have felt phenomenal. I have super wide feet through the mid foot and some altras have been getting narrow. These fit perfectly. I'll probably be getting another pair to add to the rotation. Thanks Runmoore!

    RUNMOORE/Olympus 4.0

Posted by Thomas Moran on Jul 24th 2020

RUNMOORE is now my go to Run Store. RUNMOORE provided a Coupon Code that just blew my mind. It was so good I could not believe it so I tested it by increasing my quantity to "2" pair of running shoes. Still didn't believe it till the sale went "CONFIRMED". So I get two pair of the best trail shoes for cheaper than last years model discount price. WOW. Now the shoes. I have run in every version of the Olympus since day one. I am a 66 year old ultra runner who trains 50 miles a week on rocky root strewn single track. Three times a year I run off trail wilderness runs of 40-50 miles over 12-15 hours depending on terrain and elevation. My feet are old and with age all the natural fat and tissue that cushions your feet is long gone. I ditched my Olympus 3.5 after only 150 miles because the quality had slipped so bad that I no longer felt safe when running technical trail. The Olympus 4.0 carries the highest price ever for the model so that plus the failure of the Olympus 3.5 scared the heck out of me. But have no fear. The Olympus 4.0 is simply the best trail running shoe my feet have ever experienced. After just 150 miles I'm fearless on the downhills again and my legs feel good after a hard 20 mile training run today. All aspects of the shoe, uppers, tongue, laces, sole, heel counter, insoles, gaiter trap, overall comfort and the vibram sole's flex grip and wear resistance has been outstanding. I am in the process of rearranging my budget so I can begin stockpiling these shoes. It will be a long time before a better shoe hits the market.

Wasn't sure what to expect since I've never really run in maximalist cushioned trail shoes, but I couldn't be happier with these bad boys. I've only got about 20 miles on them so far, but I've been absolutely loving them. The cushion is soft enough that it really eats up the sharp stuff but stiff enough to not feel like your running in mud (unless you are). I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome these felt. I rotate these with my Altra Superior to make sure I don't bang up my joints too much, but yea...these are awesome! So far I haven't found anything I don't like about em!

    Altra Olympus 4.0

I have about 25 miles on them. Wide toe box, love the vibram sole, the heel platform is wide and very stable on uneven ground. They also feel like walking on clouds, love my purchase.
